re going to look at the life and mating behavior of our native frog specie
 s. February to April are usually when we start hearing frog choruses from
dusk to dawn. Hopefully we will experience some late morning singers as we
ll.\n\nWear shoes that can get wet and muddy in case we want to catch a fr
og or two in the pond.\n\nDescription:\nRoaming Naturalists is a monthly h
ike designed for adults (all ages welcome) that want to learn more about t
he natural world. Topics will range from birds to plants to insects and be
yond. While each hike will have a topic of focus\, we will allow the inter
est of the group and the surprises that nature throws at us to determine w
hat we learn on our hike.\nMeet your guide at the trail head parking lot.
Hikes will range from 1-2 miles (rarely 3 miles) and easy to moderate terr
ain. These hikes will occur rain or shine. In the event of icy conditions\
, or excessive snow\, the hike may be canceled. The Nature Institute close
s for the weather when Alton Public Schools close.\nProgram Fees:\nFree\,
but donations are appreciated\nRegistration Required:\nNo\, but preferred
(You will receive a reminder email if you register ahead of time.)\nThings
  to bring: \nReusable water bottle
