Sponsor a Camper

The Nature Institute’s Discovery Day Camp has been a staple summer program for the Riverbend since 1982. We have increased participation in camp over the past decades and hope to continue to introduce new campers to the wonders of nature. Your donation can help send kids to camp.

Benefits of Summer Camp

The advantages of summer camp for youth include:

  • Socialization and Friendship Building: Camps provide opportunities for kids to make friends, develop life skills (sharing, problem-solving), and build healthy relationships in a safe environment.
  • Eliminating Screen Time and Getting Exercise: With rising sedentary lifestyles, summer camps encourage physical activity outdoors, combating health issues linked to inactivity while allowing children to explore and interact.
  • Personal Growth, Learning, and Development: Camps often focus on themes and educational activities, fostering skills in teamwork and self-awareness. Many parents report increased self-confidence in their children after camp.
  • Positive Role Models: Camp counselors serve as relatable adult figures, providing guidance and inspiration that can positively influence children’s confidence and character.
  • Making Memories: Summer camp experiences create lasting memories, friendships, and life lessons, contributing to overall childhood development.
