Event Type

Have you ever wanted to learn how to read a compass and try and navigate the outdoors? Here is your chance!

Bring yourself or a team of up to 6 people to learn how to navigate unfamiliar terrain. You will be tasked with searching for Abraham Lincoln, and learning about him on President’s Day. Courses are based on hiking difficulty, not navigation difficulty.

If you need a refresher on reading a map and compass, register for a time and please arrive on time. You can then use your new skills to navigate yourself/team through TNI. This is an unguided adventure: follow your map and use your compass to finish the course (takes approximately 30 min to 1 hour per course).   Be sure to wear hiking shoes, bring a reusable water bottle, and dress appropriately in layers. We will have a compass for you to borrow and a prize for groups that finish. Preregistration required, please fill out form below to sign up. Rain or Shine.

Cost: $2 per person per course

Registration is closed due to lack of interest. If you have a scout group that would be interested in an orienteering course, please fill out the field trip interest form. Educators would be happy to make this program available to you at a different date.
